Strive for Wholeness Instead of Perfection

Perfectionism is not about striving for excellence…it’s a cognitive behavioral process, a way of thinking and feeling that says, ‘If I look perfect, do perfect, work perfect and live perfect, I can avoid or minimize shame, blame and judgment.’ ~Brené Brown, PhD

As a follow up to Krista’s most recent post regarding some misconceptions about what it means to be “perfect” I thought I’d share a favorite of mine with all of you. Dr. Brené Brown is a teacher, an author, a thinker and a fantastic speaker. Her TEDTalk from 2010 is one of the most-watched TEDTalks of all time and I highly recommend every single one of her books, but especially The Gifts of Imperfection.
